National Chicken Wing Day is on its way! The annual holiday is celebrated on July 29, so consider stopping by Ed's Tavern to enjoy some chicken wings on this tasty day. National Chicken Wing Day was proclaimed by the mayor of Buffalo, New York, Mayor Stan Makowski, in 1977. Buffalo, New York claims to be the birthplace of chicken wings, which is why Buffalo wings is another popular name for the finger food!
Legend has it that Teressa Bellissimo made the first batch of chicken wings at Anchor Bar, the bar she owned with her husband. The wings were a late night snack for her son and his friends, which was fast, easy, and deep-fried. Her son and his friends couldn't get enough, and the chicken wing was born.
