This September 18, celebrate National Cheeseburger Day! Cheeseburgers are a flavorful, savory, and satisfying American classic. Consider celebrating this national holiday at Ed's Tavern. Legend has it the first cheeseburger was crafted by Lionel Sternberger. When he was 16-years-old in 1926 he was flipping burgers at his dad's sandwich shop, the "Rite Spot," in Pasadena, California. There are two stories about what happened next. The first being that Lionel got curious and tossed a piece of American cheese onto one of the burgers. The second story is that a homeless passerby watched Lionel flip the burgers and suggested adding cheese. Regardless of which story is true, the cheeseburger was born. Some cheeseburgers are as simple as a beef patty, a slice of cheese, and two buns, but other cheeseburgers add a variety of toppings including bacon, tomatoes, onions, egg, and more. At Ed's Tavern, we have several cheeseburgers you'll want to try for yourself.
