Ed’s And Classic Cars

Since Ed’s Tavern is NOT your typical sports bar, we like to talk about all sorts of cool things that coincide with our patrons' love for sophistication and appreciation of the finer things in life. In our opinion, that includes classic cars. Ed’s doesn’t stick to merely craft beer, wings, and sports; we cover every great novelty.

So, let’s go down a different lane this time and talk about cool cars from the past.
Ed’s And Classic Cars
We should start by illustrating the distinction between classic cars and antique cars, both of which are fun collectibles.

  • Classic Cars: These are usually between 20 and 40 years old and un-modified.
  • Antique Cars: These are more than 45 years old (so, as of this time, built in 1977 or earlier).

At least that’s how the Antique Automobile Club of America defines them. When in doubt, you’ll know a classic car when you see one like the BMW 507.
The Most Popular Classic Car in all of Florida
Do you know which vehicle is the most popular classic car in Florida?

According to the volume of web searches among Floridians, it’s the epic muscle car, the 1969 Dodge Charger. That might not surprise you knowing how much our drivers love to cruise around in vehicles with top-notch power and handling. By the way, if you’re interested in obtaining a 1969 Charger, it’s available with less than 40,000 miles, fully restored, and in excellent exterior condition at a dealership in Bradenton.

You can find a slew of classic car dealerships in our neck of the woods. Of course, that only makes sense given our gorgeous weather, lack of state emissions testing (which makes it way easier to keep an antique car), and plenty of prosperous folks who can afford them. Just a warning though, if you go to buy a vintage car (which usually refers to cars built before 1925, like the Model T), you might have to deal with a couple of annoying fees first.
Collecting Classic Cars
In terms of collecting old cars, you would consider three important variables: age, rarity, and design.

It’s hard to find really old cars that are still running, so those are incredibly valuable. Then, you can imagine the models that never had a large volume in the first place, making them very difficult to find now. Finally, design quality goes a long way in attracting a buyer if you own a spectacularly nice car like an old Lamborghini.

We hope you enjoyed reading about this awesome topic. Ed’s Tavern covers a variety of amusements and pleasures: craft beer, made-from-scratch chili, slow-cooked wings, fresh delicatessen, and once in a while, classic cars. So, if you’re near Rodeo Drive in Lakewood Ranch, come join us for Happy Hour and grab a $2 PBR or a $4 Jim Beam. Call us to learn more at 941-907-0400.
